"Where the crossroads meet"

Like a treasured discovery, it is almost with reluctance that I write this review on this architecturally designed secluded accommodation situated only a 10 minute drive from Venus Bay on the Eyre Peninsular. Nestled within 240+ acres of property named Jilbara, the Camel Beach House is where ecology, heritage, seclusion and luxury meet with unhindered views of the surf, soft sand and pristine waters of Mt Camel Beach on one side and untouched landscape of the hinterland of the Eyre peninsular on the other. The sunrises, sunsets and night skies displaying the Milky Way, are equally spectacular. Suffice to say, this property surpassed all of our expectations and, hence, did not fail to provide us with the peace and tranquility we sought.

One could be forgiven for feeling ‘off the grid’, for even the locals from Venus Bay were unaware of the existence of Camel Bay at their doorstep. With 4 kms of unsealed road leading to the property from the Flinders Highway, Camel Beach House has no Wifi or television and deliberately coerces its guests to reach out to the serene aspects of nature via long walks, surfing, diving, books and board games (of which there are plentiful), music (connections from iPad, iPod, computer provided), yoga (mats provided), etc., while at the same time catering to the comforts of home. It also comes furnished with a well stocked kitchen, washing machine with washing products, rain shower, etc. (the owners even left us a bottle of 2012 Shiraz).

It is a perfect destination for those seeking romance and repose with a touch of luxury, and it would be an understatement to say that we highly recommend the Camel Beach House.

"This is the best holiday we ever had..."

This is the best holiday we ever had. This place felt like it was over the sea and far far away but only 7 hours drive from Adelaide and in the heart of South Australia. The views were ever-changing, entertaining and tremendous. The accommodation was delicious, every part of the building was wonderful to spend time in to catch the sun's movement through and around the house, and the refreshing breeze from the sea filled our accommodation with relaxing energy. There is so much to do here, every day was a blessing and an adventure. Our minds and hearts were set free into the views of the wild coastal sea and warm textures of the coastal land. We would love to stay here again.

"We're back from a lovely trip and I wanted to let you know just how much we both enjoyed our time at CBH..."

We're back from a lovely trip and I wanted to let you know just how much we both enjoyed our time at CBH. It's a beautiful house on beautiful land - we loved how wild, remote and peaceful it is. Thank you too for your generosity it's so lovely to go somewhere where the owners have thought about the details and been generous in providing things they think you might need. We enjoyed reading many of your books too! We could have stayed a lot longer! Hopefully we'll be back for another visit.

Thanks again.

"The six star attraction of our Eyre peninsula Air B&B experience..."

The six star attraction of our Eyre peninsula Air B&B experience was a Simple Structure (as in ((less is more)), thanks to Robert Browning and Mies van Der Rohe) located on 250 acres of unspoiled landscape facing the great Australian Bight. Beautiful furnished with paintings, sculptures, furniture , bottle of wine and challenging reading material , unfortunately we only where there 2 nights and regretfully we where unable to extend our stay because of previous travel arrangements.

The views from the ocean side deck where rugged and outstanding and on the land side the surroundings where serene and peaceful. All Air B&B properties should aim for this level if only partially, any way back to the the host, no complains at all, very good communication before and during our arrival, the access road is good and easy for 2 wheel drive cars, there was food in the cupboard just in case you are running late arriving from Adelaide, but Venus bay is close enough with good facilities. there was a contact number for the care taker but we did not need this because everything was working fine. We noticed new planting round the building what was good to see and i loved the cactus.

Thanks guys for lifting my soul.

"This place is incredible..."

This place is incredible. I stayed for a month and everything was well managed; the host was always on hand and her caretaker followed up on anything that needed attending to. The house is modern, extremely comfortable and simple but excellent in design and functionality; everything has been thought of to make this a unique holiday home with all of life’s comforts and indulgences despite being off-grid. It overlooks the Great Southern Ocean on one side and heritage sand dunes on the other; the environment is tranquil and breathtaking, and then, there’s the private beach where our footprints were all we came across each day, the waves roll constantly and the dolphins rollick frequently. We ate fresh fish caught off this beach as well as swimming in the lovely sea-pools, we also explored the surrounding area, eating local prawns and oysters, dried fruit and meat from local farmers, surfing and walking long sandy beaches all within an hour from the house. Sitting outside on the deck was very easy to do every day, either out the back with the cacti that makes you feel like you’re in your own Western, or out the front waiting for the dolphins to come past, it was a perfect holiday, an excellent location in a wonderful house.
