Camel Beach House
Camel Beach House was architecturally designed with consideration for the Wild West SA coast. The owner’s dwelling concept was to create a modern rustic space with an ecologically small footprint. The house is inspired by the simplicity of the classic west coast fisherman's caravan or shack, and reflects a rugged minimalism. Nestled steps away from Camel Beach, the space was designed to encounter the wild Southern Ocean. The exterior material choice of ochre corten-steel cladding beautifully reflects its exchange with nature as it changes colour with seasons.
Camel Beach House is an eco off-grid experience, utilising the benefits and luxury of pure rain water and solar panels for energy. The design features embrace water and energy-efficient appliances and observe the principals of passive cooling and heating. In the cosy nest, guests are treated to an beautiful mix of global treasures from the owners travel and style, a collection of fabulous contemporary Australian art, Mexican sculptures, library, board games and a Marshall Stanmore Bluetooth speaker system. The house offers guests two sumptuous queen beds and all linens and towels are provided. There is a modern kitchen and appliances, commercial fridge and wine cooler and the gift of a basic bush pantry. A mobile booster has been installed for remote IT (the Telstra network operates best). The expansive house decking has two daybeds and a stunning Palm Springs inspired cactus collection. Camel Beach House is a retreat for those who wish to immerse themselves in the arresting beauty of SA’s west coast.
